Hello! Happy Labour Day!
Last year, we released a game titled Con. It was a basic platformer, but there's a legal issue surrounding it.
It had no license.
What this means is that technically, you aren't allowed to:
- Use the game or its assets (Which I guess means you legally aren't allowed to play the game?)
- Edit the game or its assets (Even though its assets were stock GDevelop thingies?)
- Share the game or its assets (So it's illegal to use the Blogger share buttons at the bottom of the post... great.)
This is a legal hurdle for the 0 people still playing the game because there's no reason why I couldn't sue them because they broke the lack of a license...
Which is why a license is being added to Con. Except please remember that this license only applies to Con's code and level design, not its assets or name.
Con (code and level design) by 9Studio is marked CC0 1.0 Universal
So now... use Con's code and trash-tier levels however you want because they're public domain :D
