Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief on the DS - This is a real thing...

My constructive criticism:

I am an experienced reader and viewer of the Percy Jackson books and movies. Not the TV show, though. That one's apparently worse than this game. Anyway, my point is that the bar was already really low for this game, since it's based off of the movie. Well, apparently the bar wasn't low enough because this game is... it's... something. Ok, I think I know what it is: an insult to the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles franchise. For you "in the big 2025" (soon 2026) kiddos, that means: "Griptonite Games flopped.". The 3D is mid at best - if you thought the Cybertruck looked low-poly, you have NOT seen the 3D models in this game. I get that it's the DS and that there's a lot of big models and the DS is also a bit underpowered, but for the love of God you can't ignore that the DS could've done better. Stick RPG Complete - a 2D Flash web game from 2003 made by 1 person - unironically looks better than this 2D-3D abomination that got published by the same company that publishes Call of Duty. As per the 2D, it's DEFINITELY uncanny valley. It's a similar vibe to some of the music and all of the art of Tetris World Party - the art and music feel wrong. The cover art, however, is pretty good, and I like how they ripped it from the movie, which ripped it from the book. Though, I gotta admit, John Rocco's modern cover art is infinitely better at capturing the Percy Jackson aesthetic. The game is mostly your regular RPG, and it's your average movie tie-in, though the combat... I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it's an unnecessary, messy overuse of the bottom screen. But on the other, it definitely has revolutionary ideas that I have never seen an RPG even THINK of trying to capture. Despite the fact that people keep saying there's a ton of bugs with the game, I didn't see any for the length I played, which would be equivalent to the 1st chapter of the book - up until the end of the fight against Ms. Dodds, or, BOOK 5/V (THE LAST OLYMPIAN) SPOILER ALERT!!! Alecto the Fury. The controls are fine at best, but they're DEFINITELY hindered by the awful UI. At the end of the day... would not play again, I gave it a 33% - an F.
